1772 WESTMINSTER OFFICE DOCKWRA HAND STAMP TYPE 4a (L363a). Letter (largely rebacked and some soiling) from Turnham Green to Taunton Somersetshire, dated 7th May 1772 and on reverse good to fine strike Westminster Office Dockwra Type 4a (L363a) with 'PENNY' at left 'W/TH'. Also on reverse fine London Bishop mark '7/MA' and manuscript 'Parville' London Penny Post receiver. Faults but this usage of this Dockwra pre dates the county catalogue by 12 years. (Ref 124023).
