THE 'STAMFORD MERCURY' NEWSPAPER, GROUP OF SEVEN ITEMS INCLUDING 1805 AND LATER USAGES. An unusual group of seven items relating to the 'Stamford Mercury' newspaper, comprising an original 'Stamford Mercury' newspaper 0ctober 4 1805 with newspaper tax stamp at upper right and six printed 'The Lincoln Rutland and Stamford Mercury' wrappers, two circa 1921, 3 x 1940, and one circa 1980's. Two of these circulars in buff paper with KGV 1d carmine printed upon, and three circa 1940, all clean attractive wrappers used within Stamford with KGV 1d carmine printed upon but uprated with 1940 Centenary 3d, 2½d and 2d stamps respectively. All cancelled 'STAMFORD MERCURY/742/STAMFORD' hooded circular handstamps. (7 items). (Ref 142228).
