Letter from Wakefield with fine printed billhead 'BALN LANE, ALKALI WORKS, /Wakefield/Bought of Simpson and Toft' to 'Mr W Braddock, Druggist, Oldham' with fine 1d red plate 2 (SG7) lettered AE, fine four margins and tied fine strike black Maltese cross of Wakefield. Stamp with contemporary ink mark, clearly shows 7 and 10 o'clock ray flaws NW square and weakness to base of 'E' square. On reverse 'WAKEFIELD' date stamp NO 24 1841 and on front 'OLDHAM' date stamp.
