1839 FREE FRONT NEWPORT, ISLE OF WIGHT, LOCAL USAGE WITH MANUSCRIPT 'N3' RECEIVING HOUSE MARK. Free front from Newport, Isle of Wight, used locally to 'Capt. Harrington R.N., Woodvale, Cowes' dated ninetenth Nov 1839 with Penny Post charge of '1'. At upper left manuscript 'N3' in red of the receiving house at Niton, presumably the hand stamp had been lost or mislaid. Unusual and very scarce usage. (Ref 138951).
