1855 DIE 2 1D PL.5 RARE QUARTET OF FOUR DIFFERENT PRINTINGS (SG21, SG24, SG26 AND SPEC C6) LETTERED HG. Fine used 1855 die 2 1d pl.5 S.C.14 (SG24) lettered HG with fine part strike WREXHAM/924 spoon dated AU/1855, used S.C.16 printing (SG21) lettered HG, several short perforations at top with '87-' cancellation, used L.C.16 printing (SG26) also lettered HG, short perforation at lower right and lastly good used L.C.14 printing (spec C6) also lettered HG, corner bends, Irish cancellation. Wiggins notes (R.P.S.L. vol. 2 page 37) that 'This plate has the well known small G, which occurs on all stamps in the vertical G rows except FG, HG and MG...' when looking at the imprimatur sheet it appears to us that 'HG' also shows this variety. Quartets of this nature are very difficult to assemble. (Ref 128566).
