1765 MAIL PENRITH, CUMBERLAND TO QUEEN ANNE'S BOUNTY WITH 'PEN/RITH' HAND STAMP (CU365). Wrapper, slightly fragile as most of this correspondence, from Penrith 'To Henry Montague Esq, Secretary to the Governors of Queen Ann's Bounty in Lincoln's Inn, London' and charged '4'. On reverse fine strike 'PEN/RITH' two line hand stamp (CU365) overstruck London Bishop mark '19/AV'. Manuscript note refers to 'Newton in Cumbd, D of Carlisle'. Hand stamp recorded in County Catalogue 1743-1762. (Ref 140972).
