McDonald Esq, Leanachan, Near Fort William, Invernesshire' with die 2 1d red-brown on blued paper (SG29) x 3 lettered GF GD GE, some perforation imperfections, tied good strikes London '48 48 48' triple numeral Inland Office cancellation. On reverse flap embossed 'COMMISSARIAT/CROWN' in blue, part damage from opening, also London date stamp 9 MY 1856 and 'FORT WILLIAM' date stamp MY 11 1856. Unusual. (Ref 141965).
