1829 MAIL MARPLE (CHESHIRE) TO DERBY WITH 'STOCKPORT/PENNY POST' TYPE 'Y' HAND STAMP (CH786). Letter, spike hole and some soiling, from Marple to 'Mefsrs. Simpson and Frear, Solrs. Derby' dated 3rd October 1829 and charged '9'. On front part strike of the distinctive and rare 'STOCKPORT/penny post' type 'Y' hand stamp in black (CH786). This hand stamp recorded 1831-1837 and this usage predates by two years. (Ref 125229).
