1850 MAIL CLAPHAM LANCS TO HALIFAX WITH 1D (SG8) AND 'CLAPHAM-LANC' UDC (YK675). Envelope from Clapham, Lancs to 'Mifs Stansfeld, Green Bank, Halifax' with 1d (SG8) lettered IJ, just touched at upper right otherwise good margins, filing fold affects, tied '436' numeral of Lancaster. On reverse good strike 'CLAPHAM-LANC' udc in blue (YK675), although geographically in North Yorkshire Clapham was under the jurisdiction of the Lancaster Post Office. Also on reverse 'LANCASTER' date stamp AU 20 1850. (Ref 137006).
