1839 MAIL PORT PENRHYN TO CHESTER CONCERNING CARGO. Letter from Port Penrhyn dated August 1 1839 to 'Mefsrs. Thomas Dixon and Co, Chester', charged '8' (50-80 miles) and on reverse fine strike 'BANGOR' date stamp AU 1 1839. The writer James Wyatt, Agent for Penrhyn Quarry states 'The present is to inform you that I have engaged the 'Peggy' 70-75 tons to bring you a cargo of Queens (?) the terms for which as near as I can tell you is about 4 weeks at 5/6 p ton .........'.
