    1809 SOLDIERS CONCESSIONARY RATE LETTER DEAL CAMP, KENT TO ANGLESEA, NORTH WALES. Fine entire letter from a Private William Evans, Deal Camp in Kent where he was stationed during the early months of the Peninsular War to 'Mr Hugh Lloyd, Churchwarden, Beaumaris, Anglesea, North Wales', slight soiling but paid with the concessionary rate '1'. A fine letter begging the Churchwardens of Beaumaris to assist him in procuring his discharge in order to support his wife and children who were being maintained by the Parish. 'In a few days I expect my wife to be put to bed with another child which will be a great expense to you, and should the War continue much longer, will soon amount to a large sum'. A fine example of a soldiers concessionary letter with post pre-paid, name rank and regiment of the sender on the outside and counter signed by the Commanding Officer. Rare. (Ref 143644).
