1798 MAIL COVENT GARDEN TO 'EGLISTON, COUNTY DURHAM' WITH MANUSCRIPT 'Mifsent to' WITH 'DURHAM' HANDSTAMP (DU168). Letter from Covent Garden, London dated 17th August 1798, part reverse missing, addressed to 'Mr J Harriman at Egliston, Country Durham', and charged '8'. Evidently incorrectly addressed with manuscript 'Mifsent to' and alongside fine strike 'DURHAM' straight line handstamp (DU168). The addressee John Harriman was a Botanist and Lichenologist and the writer, James Dickinson was a plant collector and botanist, the letter references 'Ribes Petraum, Polontilla, Aurea and Pyrola Secunda etc'.
