1657 PROCLAMATION 'AN ACT FOR THE SETLING OF THE POSTAGE OF ENGLAND, SCOTLAND AND IRELAND'. A good example of this very important nine page original document, being a proclamation issued by 'His Highnefs the Lord Protector' issued in 1657 entitled 'AN ACT FOR THE SETLING OF THE POSTAGE OF ENGLAND, SCOTLAND and IRELAND' following the 1656 Act which confirmed the rights of the 'Postmaster General' to carry letters as a monopoly and also gave detail as to how Foreign incoming letters should be handled etc. Slight soiling but a very rare and important original document.
