1841 MAIL LONDON TO SHAFTESBURY, DORSET 1D (SG8) and 'R.L' (Ride Letter) HANDSTAMP IN BLACK (L564c).  Letter from Cunningham Place, London to Shaftesbury with 1d (SG8) lettered BE, cut into, tied fine strike black Maltese cross and on reverse London date stamp 29 JU 1841. On front good strike of the scarce 'R.L' handstamp in black (L564c) believed to stand for 'Ride Letter' and understood to have been applied to mail handled by Letter Carriers on County Rides.
