1842 2d MULREADY ENVELOPE USED LOCALLY IN EXETER WITH BLACK MALTESE CROSS AND 'EXETER' DATE STAMP ON FRONT. Fine to very fine 2d Mulready envelope, stereo a208 used locally in Exeter to 'H. James Esq, Solicitor, Close, Exeter' cancelled with the usual smudged black Maltese cross of Exeter and alongside very fine strike 'EXETER' Wessex type date stamp JA 7 1842 code 'C'. Mike Jackson notes 'From 27th April 1841 to 15th Jan 1842, the strikes we have seen have been extremely poor and blotchy'. Fine clean usage. (Ref 142879).
