James Esq, Solicitor, Close, Exeter' cancelled with the usual smudged black Maltese cross of Exeter and alongside very fine strike 'EXETER' Wessex type date stamp JA 7 1842 code 'C'. Mike Jackson notes 'From 27th April 1841 to 15th Jan 1842, the strikes we have seen have been extremely poor and blotchy'. Fine clean usage. (Ref 142879).
