Good 1854 postal notice, 253 x 397 mm, 'Instructions No. 45, 1854' from the 'GENERAL POST OFFICE, August, 1854' concerning 'Correspondence for Mexico, VIA THE UNITED STATES. Postal notice advises that mail for Mexico may be sent on United States Mail Packets if specially directed 'via the United States'. The postage upon such letters will be 1s 5d up to ½ oz and 2s 10d not exceeding 1 oz, with newspapers liable to a charge of 2d each. Some staining and re-backing but a very scarce original document.
