Good used 1d Mulready wrapper, stereo A27, from Bagshot in Surrey to 'Henry Stephenson Esq, Farley Hill, Near Swallowfield' (Berks) cancelled fine strike Bagshot Maltese cross in red and on front 'BAGSHOT' date stamp JA 27 1841. Some soiling but mainly on reverse and vertical filing fold. Within fine printed advert 'Clerical, Medical, and General LIFE ASSURANCE SOCIETY' dated March 5th 1840 at bottom right 'J. MEARS, SOLICITOR, BAGSHOT' (Spec MA113u). Some imperfections as described but one of only nine used examples recorded to date. (Ref 141769).
