    VERY EARLY USE OF THE BLACK MALTESE CROSS ON 1840 2D BLUE, FEBRUARY 1841. A fine entire from Edinburgh to Queensferry dated 18th February 1841 with fine used 1840 2d blue pl.2 (SG5) lettered NK with four close to fine margins and tied fine to very fine strike black Maltese Cross, also tied when viewed from reverse. On reverse Edinburgh date stamp FEB 19 1841. Vertical filing fold well clear of stamp and cancellation, very early use of the black Maltese Cross which was introduced 10th February 1841.
