1840 WRAPPER MALTON, NORTH YORKS TO BURTON UPON TRENT WITH 1D BLACK PL.5 (SG2)(KD) AND 'PICKERING/+' SKELETON DATE STAMP (YK2188). Letter from Malton dated Dec 21 1840 to 'Mr James Knight, Solicitor, Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire' with 1d black pl.5 (SG2) lettered KD, four margins and tied red Maltese cross but unfortunately torn in several places. Some soiling to wrapper. On reverse fine strike of the very scarce 'PICKERING/+' skeleton style date stamp in black (YK2188) DE 23 1840. This skeleton a very scarce hand stamp only recorded in 1840.
