On reverse 'MONTROSE' date stamp AU 17 1845 and Edinburgh date stamp AUG 18 1845. Marykirk evidentially without a cancellation and stamp correctly cancelled en-route with '251' numeral of Montrose. Also 1847 letter same correspondence and same route with fine 1d (SG8) lettered SF fine four margins with a manuscript 'X' and light strike '251' numeral of Montrose. 1847 usage very fine strike 'MARYKIRK' udc on front and on reverse 'MONTROSE' date stamp FE 4 1847. A very scarce pair of covers showing same mode of cancellation en-route. (2 items).
