A good example of a green wrapper that was used between 1841 and 1856 to transmit registered mail, this example, whilst with a repaired tear, was originally used to consign a registered letter from Dewsbury to 'John C Sutcliffe Esq, Heptonstall, Halifax'. On front fine strike 'DEWSBURY' date stamp NO 2 1854 and within is written confirmation of safe arrival of the registered letter. The green wrapper was kept as receipt of delivery and whilst this one has faults there are few survivors.
