1857 NEWSPAPER WRAPPER, REGISTERED MAIL LONDON TO BASEL WITH 1D (SG40). Fine newspaper wrapper from London to Basel with Die 2 1d rose-red on white paper (SG40), some sulphurisation, tied good strike London numeral. One front imprint 'Via Calais' and 'Registered at General Post Office' and fine strike double ring circular 'PP' handstamp in red. On reverse 'BASEL' date stamp 3 JULI 57. (Ref 141874).
