1840-41 MATCHED TRIO 1D BLACKS PL.1A (SG3), PL.1B (SG2) AND PENNY RED PL.1B (SG7) LETTERED NF. Fine used 1840 1d grey-black pl.1a (SG3) lettered NF, four close to fine margins and cancelled black Maltese cross (unusual, Spec AS2f). Stamp with 5 and 10 o'clock ray flaws NW square and 'DIAGONAL STROKE OF 'N' SHORT' (Lichfield). Matched with fine 1d black pl.1b (SG2) with four close to fine margins, cancelled neat black Maltese cross, also fine 1d red pl.1b (SG7) lettered NF with four close to fine margins and very fine strike black Maltese cross. Both plate 1b's show 7 and 10 o'clock ray flaws NW square and constant variety 'N RETOUCHED' (Spec AS5e/AS7e). A very fine and very scarce trio. (3 items). (Ref 141780).
