Fine letter, repaired spike hole and slight creasing, from 'Carlisle Jail' to 'Mr Aron Hail, Auctionere Penrith Cumberland' dated March 25th 1831 and charged '5'. On reverse CARLISLE date stamp MR 25 1831, letter from a prisoner at the jail imprisoned for arrears of rent awaiting an affidavit from London, the Commissioner having dispatched the prisoner's goods to be sold.
