A fine used example of the Charles Gilpin Anti-War printed propaganda envelope with the address die almost entirely covered with anti-war slogans and promoting peace. From Aylesbuy to 'William Wansey Esqr Reform Club Pall Mall' with 1d (SG8) lettered TC fine four margins, cancelled '38' numeral cancellation of Aylesbury (Bucks). On reverse AYLESBURY date stamp OC 26 1852. Envelope slight faults mainly on reverse from opening, on reverse flap 'PEACE AND BROTHERHOOD' embossing. Gilpin produced three different types of envelope, all are very rare, this being the second type and apparently only four examples of the three types are recorded. (Ref 118138).
