A fine used example of this ornate envelope from London to Dublin with three margined 1d imperf (SG8) lettered TH tied London "16" inland office numeral and on reverse London date stamp JA 26 1846 and Dublin receiver JA 28 1846. Within fine printed advertisement "RINTOUL, Printseller and Stationer, 33, SOUTHAMPTON STREET, STRAND./Repository for Drawings, Drawing Materials, and Plain and Ornamental Stationery, of every description....ENVELOPE WITH PENNY POSTAGE STAMPS, 1S PER DOZEN". Stationers finding their trade seriously affected by official stamped envelopes undercut the Post Office by this method. (Ref 104731).
