LATE USE OF THE 10D EMBOSSED (SG57) IN 1863. Wrapper (small repair at lower right) London to St. Petersburg, Russia with 10d embossed (cut to shape on two upper squares but clear of design on all sides) and 2d blue pl.9 (SG45) lettered IE, both tied London "12" numerals and backstamped LONDON OC 31 63 with AACHEN transit mark in red on front. Due to change in postal rates in 1855 the 10d was withdrawn, but with increase in demand in 1862 it was re-issued and todate only 8 examples on cover are known. VERY RARE. (Ref 100585).
