The Crimean War was a military campaign 1853-1856 which saw British French Turkish and Sardinian troops fight the Russian Army in the Crimean peninsula. A campaign full of pathos, negligence and pointless human sacrifice. The letters from the serving soldiers and officers sent to their families back home and the mail they received fully reflects this in an age before censorship and is a wonderful area to collect. We are collecting real British history here. A surprisingly under collected area. Little has been published on the postal story of this campaign but we can recommend a pamphlet by Piat Devarin of which we usually have a copy available for sale.
