1850-1854 1D ARCHER EXPERIMENTAL PERFORATION Pl.96(BE)(SG16b) USED ON 1853 WRAPPER CORNWALL TO 'RICHARD COBDEN'. 1853 wrapper (slightly soiled) from Bodmin addressed to "Richard Cobden MP Edinburgh" with fine 1d Archer pl.96 lettered BE tied indistinct numeral. First B shows 'EXTENDED SERIF'. Back stamped BODMIN OC.10.1853, London OC.11.1853 and Edinburgh OCT 12 1853. Contents are part letter to Cobden from Charles Villiers (Liberal MP for Wolverhampton) suggesting that in a meeting he take care with any references he may make to Russia (Crimean War). VERY RARE PROVINCIAL USAGE WITH ONLY TWO OTHER ARCHERS KNOWN ON COVER FROM CORNWALL ( plate 101 ex Falmouth 1850 and plate 98 ex Bude 1853). (Ref 71114).
