    1856 CRIMEAN MAIL OFFICER'S LETTER DOUBLE RATE BUT PART PAID CRIMEA TO EDINBURGH. Envelope (some imperfections, mainly on reverse) from the Crimea and endorsed "From Pipe Major R. Stewart 79th Highlanders" to "Mrs R. Stewart, No 1 Broughton Cottage, Edinburgh, Scotland" with 6d postage part paid with strip of three die 2 pl.12 S.C.14 (SG24) lettered NG NH NI (several missing perfs) tied London numerals. Officer's double rate was 6d and with ms "3" postal charge. On reverse POST OFFICE/BRITISH-ARMY date stamp AP 12 1856 and Edinburgh date stamp APR 26 1856. Unusual example of part postage paid.
