1840-41 MATCHED QUARTET 1D BLACKS PL.1A (SG2), PL.1B (SG2), PENNY RED PL.1B (SG7) ON COVER AND PL.1C IN RED (SG7/SPEC AS9a) LETTERED RK. Very fine 1d black pl.1a (SG2) lettered RK, slight plate wear, four close to large margins, neat red Maltese cross and showing 5 and 10 o'clock ray flaws NW square. Matched with fine 1d black pl.1b (SG2) lettered RK, four close to fine margins, fine red Maltese cross and showng variety 'K RE-CUT' as Spec AS5e but not listed by SG. Matched 1d red pl.1b (SG7) on cover Aboyne to Aberdeen, June 19th 1841, touched two places but tied black Maltese cross, stamp shows 7 and 10 o'clock ray flaws and 'K RE-CUT'. Accompanied by 1d red from the later third repair also lettered RK (Spec AS9a), just touched lower left but clearly showing 'RE-ENTRY MARK AT TOP OF 'R' SQUARE AND THINNER CHECK LETTERS'.
