1840-41 MATCHED QUARTET 1D GREY-BLACK PL.1A (SG3), 1D BLACKS PL.1B (SG2) WITH RED AND BLACK MALTESE CROSSES AND 1D RED PL.1B (SG7) ALL LETTERED RE. Fine used 1840 1d grey-black pl.1a (SG3) lettered RE, four close to fine margins, red Maltese cross, very fine plate wear and clearly showing 5 and 10 o'clock ray flaws NW square. Matched with two 1d blacks, both plate 1b (SG2), both fine four margins, one with red Maltese cross, corner creases, other with fine black Maltese cross, both showing 10 o'clock ray flaws. Blacks also matched with used 1d red pl.1b (SG7), four margins - all three plate 1b show fine variety 'BURR RUB UNDER 'NE' OF ONE' (Spec AS5g x 2/AS7g). A fine and very scarce quartet. (4 items).
