75. LONDON CIRCULAR UNDATED RECEIVERS. A good selection of 33 covers, 1857-1859, with a good variety of the small-type undated circular receivers, very little duplication. Individually retail £600.00, as a collection £550.00. (*) (Ref 59353) £550.00

76. 1857 THREE COLOUR COMBINATION Woburn to Bombay. Envelope with 1d star (SG 29) plater 32 lettered MF, 4d carmine (SG 66) and 6d lilac (SG 69) tied '906' numerals of Woburn. Unusual example of over-paid mail - the new 9d rate had been introduced five days earlier. Backstamped Woburn JA/5/1857. (*) (Ref 60756) £250.00

Ayr). 1857 Mourning envelope to Edinburgh with 2 x die I 1d stars plate 180 lettered IE & JE, each tied fine large part strike of this scarce Scots Local, with additional strike on reverse and Edinburgh backstamp JN/11/1857. REGISTERED MAIL/BERKSHIRE. 1857 envelope Windsor to Baden, Germany with a fine pair of 1/- deep green (SG 71) tied '890' numerals of Windsor with a good selection of instructional marks including 'Crown/Registered' handstamp in red and 'Charge' in black. On reverse Windsor datestamp NO/4/1857, also German and French transit marks. attractive usage. (*) (Ref 61481) £375.00

80. EAST KILBRIDE TYPE III SCOTS LOCAL (Co. Lanark) REDIRECTED TO FRANCE. 1857 envelope with fine SG 40 plate 38 lettered BE tied good to fine East Kilbride local addressed to Lambeth, London but REDIRECTED to Calais with '8' charge mark. On reverse very fine strike of the 'Blantyre Station' Type III Scots Local and various datestamps December 1857. Most unusual usage. (*) (Ref 57550) £400.00

TRANSATLANTIC MAIL TO CANADA. 1858 envelope (small repair at lower right) Rothesay to Montreal, Canada East with two very fine strips of 3 (SG 40) plate 34 lettered MJ-ML, LJ-LL tied three neat strikes of the Scottish '298' numeral of Rothsay. MJ shows constant variety. Backstamped JA/20/1858. (*) (Ref 57719) £225.00

82. BUCKS. 1858 wrapper used locally in Aylesbury with SG 40 lettered SF tied superb '38' numeral of Aylesbury. On reverse 'Cudlington' udc in blue, backstamped Aylesbury MY/13/58. Very fine item. (*) (Ref 57905) £45.00

       

83. GLOUCESTERSHIRE. 1858 envelope Stroud to Totnes, Devon with die II 1d star perf 16 (SG 36) plate 34 lettered SF tied '757' numeral of Stroud. On reverse 'Bisley' udc in blue (GL 49). Backstamped Stroud MY/31/1858, udc used year later than County Catalogue records. (*) (Ref 57887) £75.00

86. LONDON DISTRICT OFFICE RECEIVING HANDSTAMP INCORPORATING DISTRICT INITIALS. 1859 envelope London to Rotherham bearing SG 40 plate 49 lettered LB tied London 'S16' duplex MY/2/59. On reverse very fine strike of the VERY SCARCE circular 'WALWORTH LORR. ROAD S.' (Lorimore) handstamp in black with 'S' in centre. (*) (Ref 40366) £55.00

       

87. THE '466' BARRED NUMERAL OF LIVERPOOL USED OUT OF COURSE. 1857 letter Liverpool to New York with fine '466' numeral used to cancel incorrect '19 cents' charge mark. Also 1859 entire Bath to the US with Liverpool '466' numeral used to overstrike incorrect Liverpool datestamp. A most unusual pair. (*) (Ref 61260) £300.00

88. MAIL TO SAXONY. 1859 envelope Leeds to Saxony, Germany with 6x die II 1d stars plate 55 (SG 40) lettered CK/CL, DK/DL & EK/EL tied neat '447' duplex' of Leeds AU/8/59. On front Aachen transit mark in red. Stamps paying the 6d ¬-½oz rate via Belgium with '3d' local handstamp. Very attractive. (*) (Ref 60475) £275.00

       

89. 1859 envelope London to France with 4 x SG 40 plate 36 very unusually placed in four corners of envelope lettered IH, JH, RC & IG tied London 'S18' duplex' SP/19/59. Very attractive usage. (*) (Ref 59278) £225.00

90. GB USED ABROAD - 'A86' MAIL BOAT CANCELLATION. 1859 envelope via Marseilles to London with SG 40 block of 4 and a pair cancelled good to fine 'A86' mail boat numerals. Backstamped London NO/16/59. Filing fold affects one stamp. Letter sent via the P&O ship 'Pera' which left Alexandria 3rd November 1859 and arrived London 16th November with backstamp for this date. Rare usage. (*) (Ref 54819) £1950.00

92. BOTHWELL TYPE III SCOTS LOCAL (Co. Lanark). 1859 wrapper, with printed contents, used locally in Bothwell but re-addressed to Hamilton with very fine SG 40 plate 60 lettered NB tied superb strike of this very scarce Scots Local in black.
