57. 1851 envelope addressed to 'Mr Jarvis, Layer in the Tuesday market Lynn' with fine four margined 1d imperf plate 111 lettered BJ red-brown on VERY BLUED PAPER (sg 8A) tied 1844 numeral. On reverse fine strike of the 'Thornham/Penny Post' handstamp in black (NK 402) 1851 backstamp. (*) (Ref 60740) £75.00

58. 1d IMPERFS (SG 8) TO BRUSSELS. 1851 wrapper London to Brussels with a strip of 6 1d imperf (SG 8) plate 94 lettered DG-DL, touched in places, tied London '28' numerals. On front oval 'PD' (paid to destination). Backstamped 13/DE/1851 with Frech and Brussels transit marks. Stamps paying the 6d ¬oz rate via France. Rare usage. (*) (Ref 57974) £650.00

       

59. 1852 entire endorsed 'OHMS' and m/s '2' charge addressed to 'His Grace The Duke Wellington Commander in Chief of Her Majesty's Forces London England'. Contents include an emotional begging letter from a poor, blind, old soldier who served at the Siege of Copenhagen and has five orphans. Backstamped Sligo MR/1/1852. (*) (Ref 61844) £225.00

60. 1d PINK GOING TO AUSTRALIA. 1853 envelope Wallingford (Berks) to New South Wales cancelled '832' numeral of Wallingford with a good selection of datestamps and manuscript chargemarks mostly in red. London ship letter datestamp OC/19/1853 and Australian receivers on reverse. Manuscript endorsement 'By Private Ship'. Unusual and very scarce usage. (*) (Ref 60958) £350.00

       

61. MAIL TO AUSTRALIA/DEVON. 1854 envelope to New South Wales. On front Ashburton and Newton Abbot datestamps for OC/2/1854 in red and black respectively with manuscript '6' re postage paid and Australian receivers on reverse. Good usage. (*) (Ref 60966) £45.00

62. CRIMEAN WAR. 1854 envelope from The Crimea to South Devon 'Edward Bastard' correspondence with fine handstamp '3' and manuscript 'Officers letter from Crimea'. London backstamp 17/DE/1854. Transcript accompanies which is an amazing letter from an Officer describing conditions and critisizing the British Press for printing details of good conditions!!! (*) (Ref 61651) £495.00

       

63. MAIL TO SWEDEN. 1855 neat envelope Montrose to Gothenburg with 3 x 2d blue plate 4 (SG 19) tied Montrose barred numerals. Backstamped Montrose MY/9/1855. Endorsed 'Per Steamer from Hull' and stamps paying the 6d ¬-½oz rate via private ship. Attractive usage. (*) (Ref 62831) £240.00

65. CRIMEAN WAR. 1856 envelope from the Crimea to Dublin, Ireland (slight creasing at left) with fine strip of 3 die I 1d stars S.C.16 plate 198 (SG 17) lettered TD-TF tied London '48 48 48' triple duplex. Rare cancellation. TF shows MISPLACED 'F'. Backstamped MY/26/1855. (*) (Ref 57778) £225.00

67. MAIL TO FRANCE/STRIP OF 4 (SG 24). 1855 wrapper London to Paris with a good to fine used strip of 4 die II 1d stars S.C.14 (SG 24) plate 4 lettered TA-TD. TA missing perf and centred high. 68. CRIMEAN WAR - COMBINATION OF 2d imperf (SG 14) and 1d star (Spec. C3). Envelope from Constantinople to Tunbridge Wells endorsed 'via Marseilles from British Army in Crimea' with three margined 2d plate 4 (SG 14) and 1d star plate 6 lettered QG. Backstamped SP/1/1855.
