288. 1841 1d imperf plate 12 (SG 8). A very fine used example lettered SE with fine margins and black M.C. clear of Queen's profile. (*) (Ref 50001) £45.00

289. 1841 1d red plate 12 (SG 8) lettered AD in State II (SG 8 Spec. BS1f). A fine used example with four margins cancelled black M.C. and showing CHECK LETTER 'D' SLIGHTLY FAINT AT TOP also RIGHT SIDE RESTORED. (*) (Ref 50811) £125.00

       

290. 1841 1d imperf plate 13 (SG 8). A good to fine used example lettered HK with close to good margins cancelled black M.C. Fine used cats. £150.00. (*) (Ref 63076) £55.00

291. 1841 1d red CANCELLED RED & BLACK MALTESE CROSSES. A good to fine used four margined example from plate 13 (SG 8) lettered BE clearly cancelled with two different coloured M.C.'s. The red coloured ink is that of Colne Lancashire. Part Bradford, Yorks datestamp 1841. RPS cert. 145094 states 'Is genuine, stamp has been removed from piece and replaced'. Rare. 292. 1841 1d red plate 14 (SG 8). A very fine used example lettered PE with four close to good margins cancelled very fine black M.C. in a watery ink. (*) (Ref 52919) £45.00

293. 1841 letter used locally in Edinburgh bearing a very fine 1d imperf plate 15 (SG 8) with good to large margins lettered PH and cancelled very fine black M.C. Stamp clearly shows BASAL SHIFT (Spec. BS4d). Backstamped DE/23/1841. (*) (Ref 48980) £65.00

Large part wrapper from London to Darlington dated within 15th March 1842 with four margined example (very close margins and small corner bend) tied very fine black M.C. Backstamped London MR/15/1842 and Darlington MR/16/1842. Filing fold clear of stamp. Statham records this as earliest recorded usage. (*) (Ref 53648) £375.00
