177. PARCEL TAG. 1938 tag headed 'Letters from London Foreign Section' with charge of '6/4' receipted with 5/- re-engraved seahorse (SG 451), 1/- photogravure and KGVI 4d cancelled London 19/DE/38. Slight creasing but unusual usage. (*) (Ref 60934) £55.00

       

178. LINCOLNSHIRE - GRIMSBY SHIP LETTER. 1939 envelope from Iceland to Liverpool with Iceland 5/AUR and 10/AUR x 10 cancelled Grimsby circular datestamp and Grimsby machine cancel 21.FEB.1939. On front fine strike of the boxed 'Grimsby/Ship-Letter' in black (40x15mm). Filing fold clear of stamps and handstamp. Very scarce and attractive. (*) (Ref 62609) £300.00

182. RAILWAYS. 1945 envelope originally posted 'undercover' to Manchester where it was sent on to Welwyn, Herts with KGVI 3d cancelled on arrival in Welwyn 20/APR/1945. Accompanied by a parcel and with Great Central and Midland Joint Railway 4d parcel stamp from Belle Vue affixed cancelled 18th April 1945. Very unusual. (*) (Ref 61115) £110.00

183. 1945 printed letter WITNESSING CEREMONY OF JAPANESE SURRENDER ON U.S.S.MISSOURI. 1945 envelope and letter from Captain Nicholl on board H.M.S. YORK dated 2nd Sept 1945 to Australia with GB 3d KGVI cancelled 'HMS YORK/Sept 2nd 1945/TOKYO BAY' cachet in red. Writer describes the surrender 'a short and simple affair......' Manchester' sent registered and express and franked with KGVI 6d Olympic Games (SG 497), 3d (SG 490) and 2/6d yellow-green (SG 476a) tied registered datestamps 6/OCT/48. Usual creasing. 187. KGVI PARCEL TAG TO BUDAPEST(?) with KGVI 10/- ultramarine (SG 478a) x 6 (one with corner fault) also 1/- x 2 and 2d and 2½d with London cancels. (*) (Ref 56135) £65.00
