89. MANUSCRIPT CANCELLATION. Circa 1860 envelope to Conistone with die II 1d star reserve plate 16 (SG 40b) lettered SH with manuscript 'X' as cancellation. Very local usage. Conistone issued 'K33' numeral in 1887. Stamp shows constant variety 'MARK IN 'S' SQUARE. (*) (Ref 56301) £75.00

90. MAIL TO HOLLAND. 1860 fine wrapper London to Amsterdam with pair of 4d carmine (SG 66) tied London '15' numerals. Stamps paying ¬-½oz 8d rate via Ostend. Backstamped JY/14/60. (*) (Ref 60784) £95.00

       

91. 'UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD' PRINTED ENVELOPE BY J. VALENTINE - POSTALLY USED. A good example London to Bognor, Sussex REDIRECTED to Biggleswade with SG 40 tied London duplex JA/3/62 and manuscript 'd1' for redirection. Slight soiling but a very scarce postally used example. (*) (Ref 59425) £475.00

92. RAILWAYS. 1862 part wrapper London to Blairgowrie with SG 40 tied London duplex FE/27/62. On front good strike of the small-type 'CR' Caledonian Railway handstamp in black. (*) (Ref 60885) £17.50

       

93. WORCESTER SPOON THIRD RECUT (RA 130). 1864 envelope Worcester to Manchester bearing SG 40 plate 43 lettered IJ tied fine strike MR/19/64 Code K. Stamp affected by fold. (*) (Ref 45657) £15.00

VALENTINE ENVELOPE WITH ENCLOSURE. 1865 fancy embossed envelope Peterborough to London, some staining, bearing 1d plate 78 (SG 43) tied Peterborough duplex FE/13/65 with manuscript '2' and circular 'More to Pay' handstamp. Inside an ornate triple layered Valentine endorsed 'To Her I Love etc etc'. (*) (Ref 19849) £175.00

       

95. PRINTED MATTER TO THE US. 1865 wrapper Glasgow to New York with fine printed list of Price Current with 1d plate 91 (SG 43) lettered HD tied Glasgow duplex NO/4/65. Filing fold clear of stamp. (*) (Ref 60919) £50.00

REDIRECTED COVER. 1865 envelope Melbourne, Australia to Kent bearing 3 x Victoria 6d stamps cancelled Melbourne NO/25/65 REDIRECTED to London with additional 1d plate 96 (SG 43) added tied Sevenoaks duplex JA/19/66. Cover with slight imperfections but a SCARCE and attractive usage. (*) (Ref 38386) £195.00

       

97. THREE COLOUR COMBINATION TO ARGENTINA. 1866 envelope Edinburgh to Buenos Ayres with 1d plate 83 (SG 43), 3d rose plate 4 (SG 92) and 4d vermilion x 2 (SG 93) tied neat Edinburgh duplex' MR/8/66. Filing fold just clear of stamps. Very attractive franking. (*) (Ref 60771) £375.00

98. POSTAGE DUE. 1866 envelope London to Whitby without any stamp applied but cancelled fine strike of the London 'SE17' duplex JY/16/66 with manuscript '2' postage due charge. (*) (Ref 55602) £35.00

MAIL TO SWITZERLAND/THREE COLOUR COMBINATION. 1867 wrapper London to Geneva via France with 6d plate 6 (SG 97), 4d vermilion (SG 94 - corner fault) and 2 x 1d plate 91 (SG 43) tied London '1' barrel numeral. Backstamped London MR/1/67. Presumably stamps paying 10d ½d oz and 2d late fee. (*) (Ref 60555) £125.00

100. TRANSATLANTIC MAIL. 1869 wrapper London to Ontario, Canada with 1d plate 124 (SG 43) and 2 x 3d plate 5 (SG 103) tied London duplex' 10/AP/69. On reverse Canadian receivers, stamps paying 7d ½d oz rate via British packet. Fine usage. (*) (Ref 60440) £85.00

       

101. ROYALTY. Circa 1870 small Mourning envelope written and signed by 'The Queen' (Victoria) to 'Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Gloucester'. Privately carried and very fine. (*) (Ref 57912) £375.00

102. 1870 envelope Lanark to India (Carmichael correspondence) with a fine 10d red-brown (SG 112) and 3 x 1d plate 112 (SG 43) tied neat Lanark duplex' FE/2/70. Endorsed 'via Marseilles and Bombay' with Aden to Bombay 'Sea Post Office' handstamp on reverse. A most attractive franking paying the 1/- and 1d rate. (*) (Ref 60753) £575.00
