54. PARLIAMENTARY NOTICE. 1851 'Parliamentary Notice'/Aldborough Harbour of Refuge & Improvement' fine printed document Norwich to Saxmundham with 4 x 1841 2d blues (touched in places) (SG 13) tied '575' numerals of Norwich. Stamps paying 2d postage and 6d compulsory registration. Backstamped Norwich DE/10/1851. Very scarce usage. (*) (Ref 59898) £400.00

   

55. TRANSATLANTIC MAIL. 1852 envelope, slight soiling, Ramsgate to Ohio with cut-to-shape 10d embossed and three margined 2d (SG 14) paying the 1/- rate tied '634' numerals of Ramsgate. Various accounting marks on front, backstamped Ramsgate MR/12/1852. Unusual combination for the 1/- rate. (*) (Ref 55669) £275.00

56. LIVERPOOL FORWARDING CACHET. 1853 shipping invoice from 'Transatlantic Express & Shipping Agency' Liverpool to London with three margined 1d (SG 8) tied Liverpool numeral. At lower left good strike of the 'Forwarded by Edwards Sanford & Co' cachet with illustration of sailing ship within. Backstamped Liverpool AU/20/1853. (*) (Ref 60530) £125.00

   

57. CUMBERLAND/GREEN CANCELLATION. 1857 letter from Waberthwaite (nr Bootle) to Whitehaven with 1857 1d star in a pale red shade on transitional paper (Spec. C9(3)) plate 27 lettered TK showing GOTHIC 'K' tied light strike of the Waberthwaite udc in green. Letter dated June 15 1857. Rare usage. (*) (Ref 57542) £475.00

58. IRELAND. 1858 stampless entire to Paris showing on front fine Belfast datestamp FE/16/1858 in blue via London with London cds, circular 'PD' handstamp and Calais transit mark. Manuscript '4' re postage paid. Attractive item showing pre-payment of postage in cash. (*) (Ref 52036) £45.00

   

59. 1859 entire from London to Mexico with 2 x 1/- green (SG 72), 1d star (SG 40) and 2d blue plate 7 (SG 45) tied London numerals paying the 2/3d ½oz British Packet rate. Backstamped London 1/AU/59 and on front handstamp '2' in black due for local delivery. Some stray ink on front but a fine three colour franking. (*) (Ref 55394) £375.00

60. TRANSATLANTIC MAIL. 1860 envelope London to New York with 3 x 4d large garter (SG 66) tied London duplex' AP/23/60 with a good variety of instructional marks including 'Advertised' and 'Sent back to England/without a reason/for none-delivery'. Slight imperfections but unusual usage. (*) (Ref 60336) £275.00

   

61. 'MISSENT TO GREENOCK' BOXED HANDSTAMP IN BLUE-GREEN. 1860 envelope from Glasgow clearly addressed to Paisley with fine SG 40 tied neat Glasgow duplex MY/3/60 with very fine strike of this instructional handstamp in blue-green alongside. Clean and attractive usage. (*) (Ref 53432) £140.00
