83. MOURNING ENVELOPE. 1871 example with heavy black crossed borders Turriff to Forfar with 1d plate 110 tied Turriff duplex JU/30/71. (*) (Ref 57891) £12.50

84. MAIL TO LATVIA. 1871 envelope London to Riga, Russia with 6 x 1d plate 137 tied London duplex' JY/4/71, slight creasing but attractive usage and a very unusual destination. (*) (Ref 57000) £140.00

PICTORIAL ENVELOPE - 'INDEPENDENT ORDER OF GOOD TEMPLARS' (Intemperance Movement). 1873 envelope (small fault at top) Newton Abbot to Honiton with 1d plate 165, just tied, '567' numeral of Newton Abbot, backstamped Newton Abbot NO/24/73. On front fine printed engraving for this association in green depicting a knight. Unusual and attractive item. (*) (Ref 56271) £140.00

86. 1870 1½d shield plate 3 (SG 51) USED ON COVER. 1877 1d pink envelope Liverpool to Switzerland uprated with a fine 1½d lettered IE tied Liverpool duplex' MR/7/77. (*) (Ref 59030) £140.00
     

87. REGISTERED MAIL. 1884 2d blue registered envelope London to Hamburg with 5d indigo (SG 169) and 1/- orange-brown plate 14 (SG 163) tied London numerals. On front 'Registered London' datestamp 15/AP/94. Both stamps perfinned 'AFB' - The Anglo Foreign Banking Company. SG 163 difficult on cover and cats. £450.00 in fine condition. 88. 1885 2d registered envelope Cardiff to Austria with fine examples of the 4d and 6d green (SG 192 & 194) tied 'Bute Docks Cardiff' cds' OC/29/85. Austrian arrival mark on reverse. Stamps with good colour and a fine franking. (*) (Ref 58281) £275.00
     

89. CHARING CROSS HOSTER. 1885 1d pink envelope London to Hungerford, Berks cancelled superb strike of this rare experimental cancellation DE/2/85. Some contemporary manuscript notes on front not detracting from this attractive example. (*) (Ref 53713) £375.00

90. THE FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE SIGNATURE. Envelope addressed to a 'General lying in hospital York Road Lambeth SE' signed 'Florence Nightingale' and dated by her 1/3/88. Envelope creased at top and slight soiling. Carried privately without postal markgins. Unusual and seldom offered. (*) (Ref 56161) £575.00
