‘The 1840 & 1841 2d blues’
       

203. 1840 2d blue plate 2 USED IN IRELAND. 1843 wrapper from Boyle to Dublin with a fine to very fine four margined example lettered GE tied good black M.C. On front Boyle datestamp in blue MR/9/1843 and 'No1' local receiving house handstamp of Ballyfarnon. Filing folds and closed spike hole well clear of stamp - a fine Irish usage. 204. 1841 2d blue plate 3 overprinted 'Specimen' type 1 (SG 14 Spec. E1s). A good large part o.g. example lettered AF, slight soiling but rare. Cat. £5000.00 in fine condition. (*) (Ref 56639) £3000.00

   

205. 1841 2d blue plate 3 (SG 14). A fine used example lettered QC in the 1st State showing BREAK IN 'Q' SQUARE and CORROSION ON QUEEN'S NECK. (*) (Ref 56333) £55.00

206. 1849 2d blue plate 4 THE 'SPECTACLES' VARIETY. Two fine used imperforates (SG 14), one being early print without variety (Spec. ES13n Cat. £750.00.), the second later print with variety (Spec. ES14o), both close to large margins MATCHED WITH perforate 16 printing (SG 9) centred high, but also clearly showing the 'spectacles' variety (Spec. F1q Cat. £280.00). A SCARCE TRIO.
