Fine letter from 'Trafford Park' in Manchester dated Sep 15 1840 to 'William Lewis Esq, Trentham, Stone' with fine 1d grey-black pl.3 (SG3) lettered BG, fine four margins and tied good strike red Maltese cross of Manchester. Letter re-addressed to the 'Swan Hotel, Wolverhampton'. On reverse 'MANCHESTER' date stamp SP 15 1840 and 'NEWCASTLE UNDER LINE' date stamp SP 16 1840. Good usage and anything unusual from plate three is notoriously difficult to find. (Ref 134695).
