    WILLITON (SOMERSET) EARLIEST KNOWN USAGE '777' BARRED NUMERAL ON WRAPPER DATED 6TH MAY 1844. Large part wrapper from Williton in Somerset to 'Mr. William Collins, Ilford Bridges Inn, nr Ilminster' with 1d (SG8), touched at left otherwise fine margins and tied very fine strike '777' barred numeral of Williton in a watery type ink as found from this office. On reverse TAUNTON/6 MY 1844/PY POST date stamp and on front ILMINSTER date stamp MY 7 1844. This cover is the earliest known use of the '777' barred numeral of Williton. (Ref 128245).
