    1772 'V' LONDON GENERAL POST RECEIVER'S HAND STAMP OF JOHN VINCE OF CHANDOS STREET ON MAIL LONDON TO GRIMSBY. Fine wrapper from London 'To Christopher Clayton Esqr. at Great Grimsby, Lincolnshire' dated 25th Aug 1772 and charged '4'. On reverse very fine strike 'V' circular hand stamp of the London General Post receiver John Vince of Chandos Street, a cheesemonger but also a General Post receiver. Also on reverse fine strike London Bishop mark '25/AV'. Apparently this is the only recorded use of this hand stamp in 1772. (Ref 129060).
