    1767 MAIL CONCERNING 'PAPISTS' FROM BARKING TO THE LORD BISHOP OF LONDON, BOND STREET WITH GENERAL OFFICE DOCKWRA (L336). Letter, overall soiling and filing folds from Barking 'For The Right Reverend The Lord Bishop of London in Bond Street' dated Oct 21 1767, on reverse fine to very fine strike General Office Dockwra type 4 (PENNY on left)(L336) 'G/SA' within. Also on reverse fine strike 'o'CLOCK/7/W' time hand stamp (L366), filing folds clear of these hand stamps. The letter reads 'Papists in Barking Parish Efsex, A poor man who sells fish aged 35, His wife aged 25. They have a son aged 2½. They have been resident in Barking about 2 years. These are all that I can hear of in this Parish, the account of them I had from ye man himself, who is very quiet and inoffensive'. Letter signed by 'Chr:Musgrave, Vicar of Barking'. (Ref 128149).
