Description
1757 MAIL FROM ROFS ON WYE TO LEDBURY CARRIED PRIVATELY. 1757 letter, some soiling, from a Philip Davis of Rofs dated 21st of June 1757 'To The Revd. Mr Hallings, Vicar of Ledbury' without any charge marks or hand stamps and carried privately. Presumably an illegally carried letter because at this time it was illegal to carry mail if an official postal service existed. (Ref 131822).
