1844 IRONBRIDGE SOLID CENTRE MALTESE CROSS USED ON COVER TO LONDON. Fine wrapper, without side flaps from Ironbridge in Shropshire to 'Mr Joseph Goole, Wine Merchant, Broad St, City, London' with fine 1d pl.36 (SG8) lettered DL, four close to fine margins and tied good to fine strike of this rare Maltese cross which clearly shows SOLID CENTRE. On front 'IRONBRIDGE' date stamp AP 13 1844. This example illustrated in Jackson page 130. Filing fold well clear of stamp and cancellation. SG lists the similar solid centre Maltese cross of Welshpool as B1tha, Cat £3000. (Ref 135129).
