Scotland has produced many of the more attractive cancellations and quite rightly Scottish cancels are very popular with collectors, probably no more so than Brunswick Stars. Named after the perceived similarity of the cancellation to the arms of the Duke of Brunswick they were used between 1863 and 1872. Some are very rare and usages on stamps other than the 1d red are particularly sought after. The key reference book is the recently published (2012) revised edition of the 1993 Arundel 'Brunswick Star Cancels' and copies are available from our book section on this website for £15.00 plus postage.
