INTERNATIONAL APPROVAL SERVICE

Perhaps a more traditional way of doing business, but still an important one. Simply tell us your collecting interests, and we will be pleased to send you a selection of suitable items, subject to stock availability. These approvals are without obligation, except that purchases are paid for, and the items of no interest are returned in the same manner as sent! A service we recommend if you like the idea of being able to carefully examine and select items for your collection in the comfort of your home, with your collection to hand. Approval selections can be kept for a reasonable time and facilities are available to spread payment on the more expensive items.

PLATING SERVICE FOR THE BRITISH PENNY RED

The humble Penny Red, which we would argue to be the world’s most interesting issue, with its many many different facets, is not an easy issue to plate (ie assign it to its original printing plate) and we are able to help here. For a charge of £1.50 per stamp plus postage we can offer an excellent plating service. There would be an additional charge if selections sent for plating include a large number of the ‘missing imprimatur’ letterings. Unfortunately plating is not an exact science, therefore it would be unsafe to offer an absolute guarantee as to accuracy, but you may rest assured that only the best consultants are used who plate using photographs of the original plates and illustrations of the ‘gaps’. THIS A SERVICE MUCH IN DEMAND SO PLEASE ENQUIRE FIRST BEFORE SENDING STAMPS.

ADVICE WITH YOUR COLLECTION

Bill Barrell has been collecting since circa 1971, and dealing since 1980. During this time he has been able to guide many collectors through the often quite difficult maze of British philately, through discussion of their long term objective, which can eradicate many injudicious purchases. His advice is available to both beginners and exhibitors alike, and it was his pleasure to assist the late RON ‘RAG’ LEE (Past-President of the Royal Philatelic Society London); and HASSAN SHAIDA when his collection won the ‘GRAND PRIX INTERNATIONAL’ award at CAPEX.
